Overview

Right after graduating from Ohio State, I joined Techtronic Industries’ design team in Anderson, South Carolina, for my first industrial design internship.

Over a year, I worked on consumer and professional power tools and outdoor equipment for Ryobi, RIDGID, Black Max, and Hart. I worked in analog sketches, Photoshop and Illustrator, SolidWorks, and KeyShot, and created color, finish, and graphics documents for manufacturing.

Scope
Consumer and professional power tools and outdoor equipment for four TTI brands.
Process
Analog ideation sketches, Photoshop and Illustrator, SolidWorks and KeyShot; color, finish and graphics documents for manufacturing.
Outcome
Production rubber feet for a Ryobi jointer and its benchtop stand; Black Max wheel and tire designs; a benchtop sketch that helped inspire the PBLTS01B’s design direction.

Ryobi PBLTS01B table saw

My benchtop concept sketch helped inspire the design direction of the Ryobi ONE+ HP 18V Brushless 8-1/4 in. Compact Portable Jobsite Table Saw (PBLTS01B). I didn’t design the shipped saw; the sketch was early input to its direction.

Rubber feet — in production

I designed the rubber feet for an existing white-label jointer that we adapted to the Ryobi brand, along with the rubber feet for its benchtop stand. Both are in production.

Wheels and tires

I designed wheels and tires for Black Max; the board also shows tire studies under the Ryobi label.
