Overview
Sensa is a health system built around a microneedle patch that reads blood and sweat data, paired with an AI wellness coach.
My goal was to turn the patch into a wrist wearable without the usual pain points: bulk, tight bands, and weight. The result is Sensa Flex, a snap-on band with breathable air holes, a foldable display, a magnetic closure, and an expanding strap that fits wrists from 16–24 cm.
- Problem
- Turning the Sensa patch into a wrist wearable without the usual pain points: bulky elements, tight bands, and weight.
- Process
- Microneedle research and a survey of wearables → pain points → ideation sketches → final design.
- Outcome
- Sensa Flex: a snap-on band with a foldable display, magnetic closure and an expanding strap that fits 16–24 cm wrists.
Context
Sensa is a system of two parts: a physical microneedle patch and a smart device, where the AI wellness coach lives.
Problem and research
I researched microneedle challenges and surveyed wearables past and future, then listed the pain points: bulky elements, discomfort, and weight.
Ideation
A wide range of band and display forms.
Final design
Breathable air holes, a foldable display, a magnetic closure, an inner nylon web, and an expanding strap that fits wrists from 16–24 cm.
Outcome
A class-project concept: the Sensa patch as a snap-on wrist band that fits wrists from 16–24 cm.
